The Ukrainian Institute announces a competition to create design concepts for image materials for the representation of Ukrainian culture abroad. Among the competition topics are the traditional culture of Ukraine, the Ukrainian avant-garde and modern Ukrainian design. The competition will last until August 6, 2020.
The catalogue is created for Ukrainian diplomatic missions and missions abroad. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, embassies and consulates will be able to independently choose and make souvenirs for foreign delegations, guests of honour and participants in official meetings. Thus, the official representatives of the state will acquaint the world with Ukraine through a professionally formed selection of objects that represent the history, traditions, identity and culture of Ukraine. "The culture of giving is one of the oldest forms of human relations. Today it is an important component of diplomatic practice. The most important part of the gift is the symbolic content it carries, the opportunity through the process of giving to feel the moment of community and knowledge of another. That is why we are looking for design concepts that will represent not only attractive and high-quality objects, but first of all - fascinating and deep stories about Ukraine and the people who live here,"
explains First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova
You can apply for the competition on one of the three proposed topics: traditional culture, Ukrainian avant-garde and modern Ukrainian design. Each topic should present five categories of products - textiles, ceramics, visual image (identity), author's product and another category of the applicant's choice. "We chose these topics to present the widest possible palette of Ukrainian culture,"
says the creative director of the Ukrainian Institute, Tetyana Filevska
. - From artefacts that reflect the various authentic cultures that have shaped our country, on the one hand; to the avant-garde as one of the brightest pages of Ukrainian art, and to modern creative industries, which are now actively developing and in line with the latest world trends. In the future, we plan to periodically reissue such a catalogue to present other topics, other aspects of Ukrainian culture, important dates, personalities, etc."
The applications will be evaluated by representatives of the Ukrainian Institute and an international jury, which includes specialists in diplomacy, design, marketing, and cultural researchers of Ukraine.
